Director's Take
You can’t spell LOuisVillE without LOVE.
If something makes you cry, you know it’s something that hits you on a soul level. It may be something that brings you joy, hope, or sadness. I expect to see a few Super Bowl commercials do that. Kids’ honesty usually does it too.
What moves me to tears probably the most is when people open their hearts. When they’re able to break down old walls and ways of thinking to see people or circumstances in a new light. When someone who was brought up thinking that the world is black and white starts to see gray. That’s real human growth and this world needs more. It’s then that we can start to break down all the “isms” and phobias of the world – racism, sexism, classism, xenophobia, homophobia. You get the idea.
And look! Here we all are, living on this earth and sharing this experience together. I want to see more walls come down. And Downtown is the perfect place to showcase this. We are a city of compassion and as our diversity of population grows, we are flexing new muscles that we may not have had or known to use before. As Downtown is the cultural, tourist, and social center of Louisville, let it also be the gym where you go to exercise those muscles.
Downtown is everyone’s neighborhood and everyone is welcome. Just in time for Valentine’s Day, join me in Downtown to open your hearts and welcome all. You can’t spell LOuisVillE without LOVE. ❤️
