Baird Urban Sports Park
A partnership of Louisville Downtown Partnership, Metro Parks & Recreation, YMCA, and Baird transformed RePurposed, a redevelopment site along historic West Main Street, into this new part-time sports venue. The park houses two Pickleball courts and a Wiffle ball field and offers a fun and social atmosphere for players and enthusiasts to compete and enjoy a night of matches.
The Baird Urban Sports Park is available to be reserved for 2-hour blocks by companies and organizations who want to enjoy our RePurposed space and utilize the Pickleball courts and Wiffle ball field. RePurposed
The RePurposed event space is approximately 20,000 square feet of temporary, pop-up, or short-term activation space to revitalize an underutilized vacant lot under a historic facade.
As with many cities, surface parking and underutilized vacant lots offer a unique opportunity to provide great walkable environments for Downtown and surrounding areas. Through the Repurposed initiative, we are exploring creative ways to re-vitalize these vacant and underutilized spaces by creating low-cost investments that activate the space instantly and simply.
It features exposed brick walls with several Louisville themed murals. The beauty of this space is that it is a customizable, blank canvas for every event. There is easy access from both Main St. and Washington St., electrical outlets throughout the space, the ability to fit large vehicles like food trucks and trailers, and parking garage behind street parking located behind RePurposed. Almost all types of events are allowed (music, auto show, food truck, retail, markets, outdoor movie screening, etc.). LDP reserves the right to not sublease to any person/group for any reason.
Music Alley
Music Alley is a brightly painted alleyway space nestled in between Mercury Ballroom and Louisville Public Media. It is the perfect example of “tactical urbanism,”. It is the ideal space for open-air markets and small events. The alleyway includes all-night market lighting, a vibrant painted concrete surface, plantings, and the addition of Alley Gallery artwork along the fenced-in storage.
