Downtown Tunes

The Downtown Tunes program has expanded for 2026!

Managed by the Louisville Downtown Partnership (LDP), the Downtown Tunes program features custom-designed pianos in key outdoor locations across Downtown, designed to foster spontaneous musical expression, community connection, and creative placemaking. The pianos invite passersby to pause, play, and connect through shared musical experiences.

The program includes a total of eight public street pianos placed along key corridors throughout Downtown Louisville. Available daily from 9am to 9pm, 7 days a week (weather permitting) from May through October, the pianos are free and open to all. Each piano location takes advantage of oversized and under-programmed sidewalks and open areas in the Downtown core, transforming them into active and engaging environments.

Each piano was designed and hand-painted by middle and high school students from the J. Graham Brown School, Francis Parker School of Louisville, and duPont Manual High School.

The eight pianos were donated by Louisville residents Cleo Battle, Jennifer Brislin, Lance Gilbert, Laura Grabowski, Monte LeGrand, Nancy Morris, and Steve Sizemore. Program sponsors include Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory and Derby City Gaming Downtown.
