In 2024, Louisville Downtown Partnership released the Downtown Strategy – a 10-year vision for how the city, businesses, and residents can ensure that Downtown Louisville continues to thrive as the economic, cultural, and creative center of the region. Public–private led projects that will bring that vision to life fall under three Strategic Initiatives: Activate Downtown, Reinforce Downtown as a Residential Neighborhood, and Enhance the Public Realm.
In its first year, nearly half of the 65 projects are either in progress or early planning phases.


- Two Entertainment Destination Centers (EDC) in development in the Downtown area
- Louisville Gardens to be redeveloped into $70M soundstage & facilities; construction to begin late 2025
- $90M revitalization project at Jefferson Community and Technical College (JCTC) at Broadway and 1st Street; Phase One expected to be completed fall 2025
- Construction underway at UofL Envirome Institute, Trager MicroForest, & New Walnut Street Park, a corridor of improvement along W. Muhammad Ali Boulevard
- LDP Commercial Loan Fund is currently evaluating eight potential loans, totaling $100M
- Food Truck Wednesdays and Downtown Drive-Ins to kick off in spring 2025
- Downtown Education District is in development, concentrated around the Broadway and 4th Street corridors
- LDP Downtown Investment Fund is in early planning stages

- Mayor Greenberg announced the Downtown Louisville Building Conversion Program; project applications in review
- HB797 filed in support of a constitutional amendment to expand the existing Property Tax Abatement program
- $250M mixed-use development Louisville Sports Entertainment District planned for parking lot adjacent to Louisville Slugger Field
- LDG Development is moving forward with the Motorworks Apartments, an affordable housing complex on the former Brown Bros. Cadillac site at Broadway and 4th Street
- LDP Downtown Housing Assistance Fund approved two loans totaling $3.5M in 2024

- Stantec Consulting Services Inc. and Speck Dempsey’s Downtown Street Network Plan & NuLu Walkability Plan to begin spring 2025
- Renderings unveiled for a redesigned Belvedere
- Major landscaping redesign moving forward in the 500 and 600 blocks of S. 4th Street, with a pilot string lighting project
- New CitySpot at Jefferson & 4th streets, with another in progress at PNC Plaza, located at 5th & Main streets
- Development underway on LOUMED Commons and Chestnut Street Improvement Plan
- New LED underpass lighting added on Main and Market streets and planning underway for Jefferson Street and Jackson Street underpasses
- New wayfinding signs being installed in partnership with Louisville Tourism
