Director's Take
Reasons for Giving Thanks
Dear Friend,
Thanksgiving is upon us and thus starts a busy, and sometimes hectic, holiday season. However, this is the one holiday that asks you to find gratefulness, and to give thanks… without demanding presents or consumerism and excuses to hang out and relax with the people you love. It’s my favorite holiday.
Â
I see Thanksgiving as an opportunity to give – our time and attention to our families, to our community, and to each other. All with no expectation of receiving. Can we be selfless enough to create that goodness for others and for our larger community? At a time when we are so divided, I feel this is especially paramount.
Â
I am always grateful for new perspectives, for new encounters, and for new epiphanies… Thanksgiving is the holiday we all need at least once a year to remind us to take a beat, look around, and consider how we can be and do better.
Â
My hope for all of us as we kick off this holiday season is that we get out of our routines and experience joy with each other, try something new, and find reasons to give thanks for living at this time in this place.
Â
From my home to yours.
