2022 Resolutions and Goals

01-01-2022

Dear Friend of Downtown,

As we all usher in a new year and consider our resolutions and goals, we also have to consider the highly transmissible Omicron COVID variant and how we are able to stay connected, and… I ask of you… thoughts of how we can help our community.

As the Notorious RBG said, “If you want to be a true professional, you will do something outside yourself… something to repair tears in your community… something to make life a little better for people less fortunate than you.” Whether you are a member of the Louisville community by circumstance or choice, all of us have a human responsibility to each other. To think and to act outwardly. To participate.

Louisville’s downtown sure can benefit from the collective power of participation. The past year saw a rise in homelessness, new and renewed efforts of building greater opportunity for all through diversity, equity, and inclusion, employees continuing to work from home, and a resurgence of leisure tourism and concerts, ball games, and dinners out. There is a lot to do, yet hope is alive.

As the new executive director of LDP, my own hope is that 2022 sees more acts of kindness, realizing the power of our actions, and turning that frown upside down to see the good before the bad. These of course are all related. This blog will visit these themes on a regular basis to inspire and encourage, and hopefully engage. It takes all of us to make a community.
