The Louisville Metro Housing Authority (LMHA) is pleased to announce its forthcoming move to the revitalized 500W office building, situated at 500 W. Jefferson St., in Downtown Louisville, starting May 2025. This significant relocation will enhance accessibility and operational efficiency for LMHA, marking a new chapter for the organization.
The decision to relocate comes as LMHA has outgrown its current space at Avenue Plaza, slated for extensive renovations over the next few years. Moving from the Avenue Plaza housing complex will facilitate these critical updates. Additionally, consolidating LMHAâs operations into a single, modern facility will resolve existing operational challenges and improve overall efficiency. Centralizing our staff, who are currently dispersed across various locations, will enhance customer experience and streamline our services.
500W offers LMHA nearly 55,000 square feet of contemporary space and is strategically positioned directly across from Louisville Metro Government offices and is easily accessible by multiple bus routes and car. This downtown location will provide a more spacious and inviting environment for our clients, making their visits more convenient.
Elizabeth Strojan, Executive Director of LMHA, commented, âOur move to Downtown Louisville represents a pivotal advancement for LMHA. Being in the heart of the central business district will significantly improve access for our residents and allow us to better serve our community. This transition reflects our commitment to growth and operational excellence as we bring all our departments together.â
At the new location, client services will be available on the first floor, with easy access from 5th Street, while LMHAâs employee offices will be situated on the 6th, 7th, and 8th floors.
This strategic relocation positions LMHA at the center of Louisvilleâs downtown, facilitating better access to essential services for the community.
âWe are excited to welcome LMHA to the heart of Downtown Louisville,â said Rebecca Fleischaker, executive director of Louisville Downtown Partnership. âThis relocation gives LMHA the perfect opportunity to not only consolidate their offices into a central location, but it also enhances accessibility and connectivity for residents seeking services and reinforces Downtown as a place for all to use and enjoy.â
500W owner and developer SomeraRoad completed renovations to 500W in January 2023.
âOur team is proud to welcome Louisville Metro Housing Authority to500W,â said Andrew Marchetti, Senior Vice President, SomeraRoad. âThe buildingâs revitalization has been incredibly intentional, aiming to create a modern workplace that meets the needs of the cityâs most dynamic and influential organizations. We are happy to hear how this new space will equip LMHA to continue to grow and cultivate their team in an optimal setting.â
