Louisville Downtown Partnership (LDP) today announced the arrival of a new music and dancing event taking place in Downtown Louisville this fall.
Through activation of the mobile projection unit, the Downtown CineBus, the Downtown Silent Disco will be held at the Big Four Lawn on September 16, 2023, from 7 – 10:30pm. The event is for all ages, offering visitors and residents the opportunity to dance the night away underneath the glow of Louisville’s skyline. The Big Four Lawn will open at 7pm with food and drink options available with the silent disco beginning at 7:30pm.
Gaining popularity across the nation, silent discos provide the unique experience of listening and dancing to music while wearing wireless headphones. The event will feature a choice of three stations, including Top 40, Decades, and a kid’s channel, allowing individuals to tune in to their favorite station and enjoy.
“We’re thrilled to bring another exciting event to Downtown Louisville,” said Rebecca Fleischaker, executive director of LDP. “The Downtown Silent Disco is designed for residents and visitors alike to experience Downtown in a new and different way this fall.”
The Downtown CineBus will add multicolored lighting and visual effects at the base of the Big Four Bridge. The event will also feature food and drink by local vendors including Amiracle Ade Lemonade Company and Ten20 Brewery. The silent disco will be produced by Louisville Silent Disco
“We are so excited for this chance to dance Downtown in such a cool space, and we invite people to bring the family out to join us!” said Andrew Glibbery, founder and owner of Louisville Silent Disco. “Having a choice of channels allows us to engage a wide audience simultaneously, creating this unique dance party where people of all ages move and sing.”
Attendees will be able to rent headphones throughout the duration of the event, free of charge, by exchanging a photo ID. Families will have the opportunity to exchange one form of ID for multiple headphones. The silent disco is also a great option for those with sensory and hearing sensitivities, as each individual has the ability to control their own volume for each station.
The Downtown Silent Disco is free to the public with accessible parking available at the Silver and Red parking lots at Waterfront Park. The event is part of LDP’s efforts to encourage visitors and Louisvillians to explore Downtown Louisville and participate in more Downtown activities and events.
