LOUISVILLE, Ky. (July 21, 2025) – Louisville Downtown Partnership (LDP) today unveiled the newest CitySpot in partnership with JPMorganChase, featuring a freshly painted vibrant sidewalk mural, seating areas, a Downtown Tunes piano, and colorful flowerpots near the corner of Fourth and Jefferson streets.
The latest CitySpot breathes new life into what was previously an oversized and underused space by creating a welcoming community gathering space that enhances connectivity and Downtown vibrancy. The JPMorganChase CitySpot is located on publicly available property owned by the Hyatt Hotel.
“CitySpots are about more than beautifying Downtown, they’re about creating places where people can slow down, connect, and rediscover the art of hanging out,” said Rebecca Fleischaker, executive director of LDP. “The new installation demonstrates how thoughtful design can transform overlooked urban spaces into destinations that strengthen our community.”
The installation features custom seating made from repurposed tree grates, large planters filled with cannas, petunias, and coleus, and a public street piano titled “Cityscape | Country Life” painted by the J. Graham Brown School as part of LDP’s recently launched Downtown Tunes program.
“This new CitySpot is a great example of what happens when creativity, community, and collaboration come together,” said Mayor Craig Greenberg. “By turning unused corners into vibrant spaces, we’re building a more connected, inclusive city where everyone feels welcome.”
The CitySpot program, developed by the Bingham Fellows Class of 2022, transforms underutilized urban spaces into welcoming, pedestrian-friendly environments that promote social interaction and community engagement. The transformation of the JPMorganChase CitySpot was made possible through generous support from JPMorganChase, Doug Owen, JLL, and LDP.
“JPMorganChase is proud to support the third CitySpot. When customers walk toward Chase’s Louisville Main Branch, they’ll see this space, reflecting the vibrance of our city,” said Duffy Baker, Chair of JPMorganChase’s Kentucky and West Virginia Market Leadership Team and Commercial Banking Market Executive. “This project provides a ‘spot’ for the community to enjoy all downtown has to offer from its beauty to its businesses.”
The sidewalk mural, designed and painted by Often Seen Rarely Spoken (OSRS), a Louisville-based art and mural collective, complements the recently painted mural on the west-facing side of the Hyatt Hotel’s parking garage. The colorful, abstract design is meant to engage both locals and visitors, offering them a visual connection to the city.
“OSRS is totally thrilled to help recreate this space, activating art is a perfect way to reinforce LDPs mission of enhancing downtown aesthetics and local economy. Having comfortable and intriguing areas for people to interact with is key to visitors and locals enjoying our city,” said Ian Muldoon, creative partner of OSRS. “The addition of the bright colors on the sidewalk should engage youth at a ground level and can even be seen from airplanes when cruising over downtown. We hope this corner becomes a local landmark for years to come.”
The new installation joins Downtown’s expanding CitySpot network, including sites at the corner of 5th and Jefferson, adjacent to Metro Hall, and the 4th Street Bark Park, north of The Brown Hotel.
