Louisville Metro Housing Authority to Relocate Headquarters to the 500W Building in Downtown Louisville
Louisville, KY December 18, 2024 – The Louisville Metro Housing Authority (LMHA) is pleased to announce its forthcoming move to the revitalized 500W office building, situated at 500 W. Jefferson St., in Downtown Louisville, starting May 2025. This significant relocation will enhance accessibility and operational efficiency for LMHA, marking a new chapter for the organization.
The decision to relocate comes as LMHA has outgrown its current space at Avenue Plaza, slated for extensive renovations over the next few years. Moving from the Avenue Plaza housing complex will facilitate these critical updates. Additionally, consolidating LMHA’s operations into a single, modern facility will resolve existing operational challenges and improve overall efficiency. Centralizing our staff, who are currently dispersed across various locations, will enhance customer experience and streamline our services.
500W offers LMHA nearly 55,000 square feet of contemporary space and is strategically positioned directly across from Louisville Metro Government offices and is easily accessible by multiple bus routes and car. This downtown location will provide a more spacious and inviting environment for our clients, making their visits more convenient.

At the new location, client services will be available on the first floor, with easy access from 5th Street, while LMHA’s employee offices will be situated on the 6th, 7th, and 8th floors.
This strategic relocation positions LMHA at the center of Louisville’s downtown, facilitating better access to essential services for the community.

500W owner and developer SomeraRoad completed renovations to 500W in January 2023.
