LOUISVILLE DOWNTOWN PARTNERSHIP REPORTS 2024 ACHIEVEMENTS
2025 Louisville Downtown Management District (LDMD) meeting schedule released
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (December 30, 2024) – Downtown Louisville continues to thrive, experiencing significant momentum in 2024. The growth in new street-level businesses, the relocation of corporate offices, and a strong pipeline of development projects showcase the continued optimism and confidence in Louisville’s urban core.
Key achievements in 2024 include:
- 43 new businesses opened in Downtown with an additional 16 slated to open in 2025.
- 8 new companies moved to the Downtown area, representing more than 400 jobs, with 2 more announced for 2025.
- 3 companies relocated within Downtown, with 7 additional relocations planned for 2025.
- 6 development projects were officially completed in 2024, with a combined investment of $76 million.
- 73 projects are either underway or announced, representing an investment of more than $2 billion.
- 3.7 million people visited Downtown in 2024, totaling more than 33 million visits.
- Noteworthy commercial and mixed-use projects in progress or announced include Hotel Bourre Bonne, Jefferson Community and Technical College (JCTC)’s Jefferson Rising Project, Louisville Gardens, Louisville Sports Entertainment District, One Forty West, Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) Education Center & Museum, UofL Health Sciences Simulation Center & Collaboration Hub, and UofL New Vision of Health Campus.
- Significant residential projects that are underway or announced include Beecher Terrace Phase IV, The Billy Goat, the Motor Works Apartments, and NuLu Crossing.
- Infrastructure projects currently underway and announced include the East Market Streetscape, Main Remade, and Reimagine 9th Street projects.
- The Downtown Commercial Loan Fund (DCLF) approved a new loan totaling $575,000 helping to fund a mixed-use project at 722 W. Main St. featuring Pursuit Spirits Bourbon experience and short-term rentals.
- The Downtown Ambassador team provided more than 230,000 hospitality interactions to Downtown visitors, residents, and workers, including hospitality assistance, event hospitality, and greetings.
Looking ahead to 2025, the Louisville Downtown Partnership (LDP) is committed to further enhancing programming and events, improving placemaking efforts, elevating the Downtown user experience, and advocating for policies and incentives to drive new economic development. These initiatives support the 2024 Downtown Strategy, LDP’s comprehensive 10-year plan for Downtown’s guide to future development.
The Louisville Downtown Management District (LDMD), one of LDP’s two main entities, has played a key role in Downtown’s success. Established by ordinance in 1991, LDMD is Kentucky’s first Business Improvement District (or BID) and promotes the economic, residential, and cultural vitality of the core of Downtown.
