LOUISVILLE DOWNTOWN PARTNERSHIP ANNOUNCES PICKLEBALL 101 CLINICS SET TO BEGIN THIS JULY
Free pickleball clinics to activate Baird Urban Sports Park
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (June 26, 2026) â Louisville Downtown Partnership (LDP), in collaboration with Goodbounce Pickleball Yard & Wellness, today announced the launch of Pickleball 101 Clinics at Baird Urban Sports Park, 615 W. Main Street, in Downtown Louisville beginning Tuesday, July 14.
âBaird Urban Sports Park is a unique asset that allows for people to come together, enjoy playing a sport, and have fun in the heart of Downtown,â said Rebecca Fleischaker, executive director of LDP. âThese clinics are a great entry point for anyone who’s been curious about pickleball and a great excuse to spend more time in a special Downtown setting.â
Clinics will be held every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month, starting on Tuesday, July 14 running through October, from 5:30pm – 6:30pm and are open to all ages. Following each clinic, open play will be available from 6:30pm â 7:30pm.
Managed by Goodbounce Pickleball Yard & Wellness, the hour-long clinics are designed for beginners and will allow individuals to learn the basics of pickleball including equipment, basic shots, strategies, rules, and scoring. The clinics are free to attend but do require advance registration at louisvilledowntown.org/urbansportspark. Loaner paddles and balls will be offered.
Baird Urban Sports Park, also known as RePurposed, is a 20,000 square-foot redevelopment site along historic W. Main Street. In 2022, Baird sponsored the transformation of the space to include two regulation-sized pickleball courts and a wiffle ball field. In 2024, the site was identified as one of the three key city-owned properties for redevelopment in Downtown. In the interim, it serves as a venue for open play and pop-up events.
The park is open to the public for pickleball and wiffle ball pick-up play Monday through Saturday, from 10am â 8pm, April through October, weather permitting. The courts and field are also available for reservation in two-hour blocks by organizations and individuals.
