Downtown Louisville Begins Transformation

DOWNTOWN LOUISVILLE BEGINS TRANSFORMATION

(Louisville, KY) – With the Kentucky International Convention Center closure, the Omni Hotel coming out of the ground seemingly overnight, the staging of construction equipment, road closures and increased traffic delays, it is clear that the wave of exciting new development – all slated to be completed by the end of 2018 — has officially begun in Downtown Louisville.

“We currently have 43 development projects announced or already underway within the Central Business District,” said Rebecca Matheny, Executive Director of the Louisville Downtown Partnership (LDP). “This truly is an historic new chapter in our city’s history, which is the culmination of many years of hard work and planning on behalf of the entire public and private community. Our citizens should be proud and very enthused about what their Downtown will look like in 2018.”

LDP wants citizens to know that Downtown remains open for business and encourages folks to come Downtown to check out all of the exciting developments for themselves. “There is a reason we are experiencing such tremendous growth and attracting investors from all over the region,” Matheny added.

LDP has just released, “Transformation by the Numbers” to the public so the community is aware of the major highlights happening Downtown. LDP drives economic growth in Downtown and adjacent central-city neighborhoods for the benefit of the entire region, as well as oversees multiple on-street enhancements that help establish Downtown Louisville’s distinctive character and widespread appeal. LDP believes the economic engine of any great city starts with a strong Downtown.
