DOWNTOWN BUSINESSES INVITED TO COMPETE IN DOWNTOWN’S HOLIDAY LIGHTING AND DECOR CONTEST

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (October 21, 2024) – Louisville Downtown Partnership (LDP) today announced the launch of its second annual holiday decor and lighting contest, set to brighten up the greater Downtown area this winter season.

The Downtown Holiday Decorating Contest invites Downtown business and property owners to participate in creating festive window displays, decorated building facades, and adding holiday lighting to their buildings. The contest aims to enhance the festive spirit of the season and support local businesses by attracting foot traffic and encouraging community engagement.

“The goal of this contest is to infuse our Downtown streets with holiday joy while showcasing the unique character and charm of our Downtown buildings and businesses,” said Rebecca Fleischaker, executive director of LDP. “This is a fun competition to celebrate the season of giving and promote all that Downtown has to offer.”

Registration for the decorating and lighting contest is open now through November 25, 2024, featuring two categories for storefront window displays or building facades.

For each category, a winner will be selected for first, second, and third place. Displays will be judged by members of the Louisville Downtown Management District (LDMD) Board and the Downtown Development Corporation (DDC) Board. Additionally, the “City Choice” category will be selected through public voting on LDP’s Facebook page. Judging criteria includes overall aesthetic, originality of theme/design, creativity, quality of decorating/design, and use of space. Winners will be announced on December 16, 2024 with prizes awarded for each category.

Participating locations will be highlighted on LDP’s website and social media platforms to generate excitement for Downtown Louisville. To register your property or business, visit here.
