Baird Urban Sports Park to Host Open Play
New opportunities provided for individuals to use Downtown sports park
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (September 16, 2022) – Louisville Downtown Partnership (LDP) announced the kickoff of open field and court play at the Baird Urban Sports Park beginning next week, Tuesday, September 20. The park will offer open play three days a week, from 10AM – 2PM.
“This space is a unique asset that allows for people to come together, enjoy playing a sport, and have fun in Downtown,” said Rebecca Fleischaker, executive director of LDP. “We hope that it will be an attractive reason and provide additional perks to coming to the office.”
Located at RePurposed, a redevelopment site along historic West Main Street, Baird Urban Sports Park houses two Pickleball courts and a Wiffle ball field, which will be open to the public for pick-up play on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
Open play will continue through the end of November and is dependent on weather. The Pickleball courts and Wiffle ball field will operate on a first come, first served basis, with a play limit of 45 minutes when other players are waiting to use the courts or field. Pickleball nets will be up, but participants will be required to bring their own equipment when using the park.
The sports park is also available to be reserved for 2-hour blocks by companies and organizations who want to enjoy our RePurposed space and utilize the Pickleball courts and Wiffle ball field. For more information, visit www.louisvilledowntown.org/urbansportspark.
