StageOne Family Theatre presents “Number the Stars” 02/03

Event Description: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: LOUISVILLE, KY – January 3, 2024 – StageOne Family Theatre presents “Number the Stars.” Adapted for the stage by Douglas W. Larche, the play is based on the Newberry Award winning author Lois Lowry children’s book. The novel covers the courageous journey of young Annemarie Johansen in Copenhagen during World War II. When the Nazis began targeting Denmark’s Jewish population, the family realized it can no longer sit by and watch history unfold. Together they embark on a daring mission to help her Jewish best friend Ellen Rosen escape to safety. Through heartwarming moments of bravery and the enduring power of friendship, the play highlights themes of resilience and triumph of the human spirit.

The StageOne production team has poured their hearts into this production, ensuring that every element, from the performances to the set design, captures the essence of this powerful story, expressed Andrew Harris, StageOne Artistic Director.

“Number the Stars” promises an unforgettable theatrical experience that resonates with both children and adults alike. With its universal themes of bravery and compassion, the play serves as a poignant reminder of the strength found in unity and empathy.
