SHINING A LIGHT: WOMEN IN PRISON
This year, the annual photography contest presents the unique effects of incarceration on women.
Participating photographers were asked to submit photographs that illustrate the unique ways in which incarceration affects women prisoners. Informed by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals #5: Gender Equality and #16: Peace, Justice and Strong
Institutions.
The Muhammad Ali Center’s intention is to increase awareness, to educate on prison injustices, particularly those that disproportionately affect women prisoners, and to inspire viewers to get involved and to be a part of the solution.

Step into the Confidence pavilion, a cone-shaped theater, to experience how Ali’s self-esteem and self-confidence became a beacon of inspiration for Black Americans during the Civil Rights era, empowering them to embrace their own beauty, potency, and self-belief.
In the Dedication pavilion, become immersed in this captivating multimedia presentation that showcases Ali’s relentless dedication and unparalleled work ethic as you witness him training, while hearing firsthand accounts from those who had the opportunity to witness his unwavering commitment to becoming The Greatest.
