The University of Louisville women’s basketball team has received a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history Monday night, and will host the first two rounds of the tournament at the KFC Yum! Center for the third year in a row.
Upcoming Women’s NCAA Basketball Games at KFC Yum! Center:
- U of L who will play Boise State at noon on Friday
- Marquette who will play Dayton at 2:30 on Friday
- The winners of these two games will play on Sunday – Time TBD
The first round will be played on Friday at the KFC Yum! Center with UofL vs. Boise State at noon. Marquette will also play Dayton at 2:30 p.m. at the same venue. The winners of those two games will play a second-round game Sunday at a time yet to be determined.
According to the Courier Journal, the Cardinals will occupy the top seed line in the Lexington regional after earning the third overall seed, meaning they could stay in-state until the Final Four.
The Lady Cards won the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament championship just a week ago and they are ranked third in the Associated Press Top 25 and the USA TODAY Coaches Poll.
If the Cardinals win their first two games at the Yum Center, they will advance to Lexington for the Sweet 16 and Elite Eight, scheduled March 24-26. The Final Four is March 30 and April 1 at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio, where Louisville appeared in the Countdown to Columbus Tournament in November.
