The Louisville Downtown Partnership presents a night of networking and celebration during our annual Cornerstone Awards ceremony
The Central Business District is undergoing a historic transformation and this event will serve as a front row seat to the most recent milestones, as well as information on future projects. Cornerstone Awards are given to development projects that invested $1 million or more in Downtown Louisville and were completed in 2017 – 2018.
Awards to be presented include:
2017-2018 Cornerstone Awards – Projects investing $1 million or more in Downtown louisville that were completed over previous 2 years – construction costs only.
The S. Russell Smith, Jr. Award of Excellence – This award is named in honor of Russell Smith, Jr. who was a long-time board member and chairman of the Louisville Downtown Management District (LDMD) which, along with the Louisville Downtown Development Corporation, now comprise LDP.
The Award for the Public Sector – Honoring a recipient with a history of leadership, cooperative development, positive communication and creative partnerships as reflected in almost every public/private partnership project in Downtown.
LDP’s mission is to aid in facilitation and strengthening of commerce, provide maintenance assistance, beautify and enhance streetscapes, improve security and safety, and stimulate high-quality development and vitality in Louisville’s Downtown. LDP believes the economic engine of any great city starts with a strong Downtown.
“We are honoring twenty significant development projects that range from housing, arts venues, university buildings, hotels, retail, and even a major stabilization undertaking that sets the stage for further substantial development here in Downtown,” said Rebecca Matheny, LDP’s Executive Director. “Thanks to many years of hard work on the part of countless stakeholders, Downtown Louisville is experiencing an exciting period of growth and revival in our Central Business District. Our city’s collective commitment to excellence and ongoing collaboration has ushered in this new period of tremendous growth and opportunity,” she added.
