Glassworks Fitness – “If you’re looking for a convenient and friendly place to workout in downtown Louisville, take the time to check out Glassworks Fitness (located in the basement of the Glassworks building). Not only does this gym have all the typical equipment you might expect (treadmills, weights, elliptical machines, etc.) but you’ll also find more unusual options including TRX training equipment. And when it comes to working out, you can choose between doing it solo, participating in group classes, or getting some individualized training designed to help you gain strength and stay injury-free. Best of all, this place is friendly and relaxed, with a real community feel…the perfect place to work off some stress and get into shape. “ – Diane Watts-Roy
Wel at Humana – “Downtown Louisville’s brand new, state-of-the-art wellness facility is opening soon, and it isn’t just for Humana employees. Anyone can join—from the experienced athlete to those who are just starting to improve their health. Drop in on a group exercise class, swing by for a lunch break workout, get professional fitness guidance, make friends and get in shape. That’s what Wel at Humana™ is all about.“ – Humana
Downtown Family YMCA – “Every day, something’s happening at the Y. We bring kids, adults and families closer together, encourage good health and foster connections through fitness, sports, fun and shared interests. Our members enjoy group exercise classes, walking/jogging tracks and encouragement from our Wellness Coaches: we have the support, guidance and resources to help you learn new things and make new friends at any stage in your life.” – YMCA
Suspend – “This studio is the most positive environment around. Using aerials as a from of fitness exercise is a wonderful concept and the instructors at Suspend have it down to a science. They have created an atmosphere that is truly absent any criticism that is not constructive. Classes gel into cohesive groups easily, yet they thrive on having fresh faces join. If you are unsure try their 4 class Intro to Aerials series. You will impress yourself.” – Denis Dawson
Downtown Pilates & Massage – “We are a boutique Pilates studio & art gallery emphasizing private/semi-private instruction, small group equipment classes & massage therapy. Our gorgeous, fully equipped studio is located at the edge of downtown in the heart of Butchertown, just blocks from the NuLu neighborhood, & minutes from Crescent Hill & the Highlands. On street parking is available.” – DPM
Climb NuLu – “Climb NuLu is a great place to climb, has a great community, some of the best route setting I have seen anywhere and I love the diversity of wall set ups. Membership also includes yoga which happens everyday. The flexible hours make finding a time to climb easy. Good place to go if you are new to climbing too. The women’s climbing group that meets a few times a week is incredibly friendly and welcoming. Good place for kids also, just make sure to keep an eye on them to make sure that they stay safe and don’t run on the mats under climbers that may fall. The gym set up is fun and inviting and the mats are squishy and safe.” – Nicole Howley
CrossFit the Ville – Great little box in the downtown area! “Dropped in 3 times for open gym during a trip to Louisville. Nice facility and everyone was friendly. Bonus: you can’t beat the $5 drop in fee!!!” – Denis Hill
