LOUISVILLE, KY (June 15, 2016) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) announces closure of the exit ramp from Interstate 64 East to Interstate 264 East in western Jefferson County. This ramp (Exit 1) from I-64 East to I-264 East (Georgia Powers Expressway) will be closed for three months beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, June 20. Contract crews will be replacing the bridge on I-264 over Northwestern Parkway (mile point 0.16).
Motorists on I-64 East that want to access areas in the west end of Louisville via I-264 will be detoured via 9th Street (Exit 4) to US 150 (Broadway Street) to 22nd Street to I-64 West and then connect to I-264. Drivers familiar with this area can also follow I-64 East to 22nd Street (Exit 3) and use the network of city streets to reach local neighborhoods.
Traffic passing through Louisville should follow I-64 East to I-65 South and can reconnect with I-264.
Some lane closures on Northwestern Parkway underneath I-264 will be necessary during construction.
Hall Construction of Kentucky, Inc. was awarded this contract in the amount of $2.2 million. Completion of the new I-264 bridge is scheduled for October 1, 2016.
